About
1992. Early summer in a galaxy either far-far away or relatively close, very much depending on where you were at this point. Sun is shining bright and hot as it should. I am born. Very much under-dressed for such a special occasion. Unable to walk just yet, I crawl my way on the burning hot floor, crazy eyes looking at me in awe and worry. An expedition, a battle, a life begins today. On my heroic journey, my little hand suddenly reaches out and touches something unfamiliar. What a funny shape! What is this thing? Oh look! A pencil...
Please engage in a quick flashback to your early childhood. Ready? Now let me ask you, in your early days were you the kid beating the smaller kid, or the smaller kid getting beaten? The one, keeping tea-parties with her plastic doll companions, or the one giving these poor souls random haircuts and bruises? Well I was the one who watched you and these other three kids from a safe distance, while drawing cherries onto my cherry tree drawing, for two hours straight. True story.
Art huh? In your life you meet a crazy amount of people, each and every one of them going onto a different direction; some are hardworking people, who are willing to do their best and hardest effort in order to reach a goal which is glorious and often feels near-unachievable, spending days and nights dropping everything to study and practice to finally become somebody, such as, a doctor, lawyer, diplomat, athlete, etc.- someone beautiful, who the others look up to in respect and admiration, someone who is useful for others, and helps to create a better world. Good for them.
And there are the so called "artists", the lazy ones, whose jobs might seem less important at first glance, until you look up from the screen, paper, bathroom-graffiti you are reading this text on, take a quick look around you and realise that everything, quite literally, Everything you surround yourself with is either a piece of design or has a piece of visual design on it. I mean would you buy a box of cereal, if the box was plain white except for a black label saying CEREAL written in Arial on it? No. No way. You want funny-looking cartoon bunnies, bears, and lions on this very box, (with great copy, I might add) winking at you, keeping you aesthetically pleased. Illustrators, designers, painters, doodlers, writers and all these odd ones are making something from nothing, something the others would like to look at. Their job is not to make the world better, but more comforting.
So if you want to take part in making something visually appealing, and you feel like you could use my help, contact me, and together we will come up with something amazing.
Until then, take care friend;
Laz
